Ca' Vendramin Regional Reclamation Museum
Former water-pumping plant from the early 1900s that chronicles the hard work done in the past to make the Delta lands habitable and cultivable. The plant with its expertly restored museum rooms is a splendid example of industrial archaeology.
The Ca' Vendramin Regional Land Reclamation Museum, located in Taglio di Po, is a former early 20th-century water-pumping plant dedicated to the history and importance of agricultural reclamation in the Po Delta region.
The museum is housed in an old building of Villa Vendramin, one of the first buildings erected in the area after the land reclamation that took place in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with a park and monumental garden attached. It presents a large collection of objects, equipment and machinery used in the land reclamation phases.
Through information panels, photographs, models and films, the museum illustrates the history of agricultural reclamation, the methods and technologies used over time, and the environmental effects and land transformations caused by these activities.
Exhibits include a section on river navigation and freight transport in the Po Delta, one on the species of fauna and flora found in the Po Delta area, and one on shrimp and fish fishing in the river.
The facility periodically organizes exhibitions, cultural events, conferences and activities related to the Po Delta area and offers guided tours and activities for school groups and organized groups in order to raise awareness of the historical, cultural and environmental value of agricultural reclamation.
