Scano Boa, between lagoons and reeds

The boundary between land and water, between the park's lagoons and reed beds, reclaimed areas and transitional waters, is as blurred as ever.

Navigating the "paradei," long narrow canals that connect the Po to its brackish lagoons, one moves between the Bocche del Po di Pila Reserve, the Batteria Oasis, and the Burcio and Basson lagoons.

Farms nestled in the 1950s and the Punta Maistra lighthouse are traces of man's past presence in an environment that is now pristine, as are the last surviving reed huts at Scano Boa, the Delta's symbolic island.
